How to make time for your self care

So many people tell me they don’t have time for a massage, and I get it. Life gets in the way. Your job, sleep, dealing with the kids, cooking, cleaning, socialising…it’s no wonder there is no time left for you.

But do you realise an hour of your day is less than 5% of your time?

Are you really telling me you aren’t worth 5% of your own time?

Do you really give work 33% of your time (8hrs a day), effort and energy and sometimes don’t even give yourself 5%???

When you break it down like that, it sounds crazy – right?!

Sure money might help you lead the life you want or need to, but there is currently not enough money in the world to cure all the big diseases. All these lifelong health conditions that are usually triggered by a buildup of stress because…people didn’t put themselves first. 

  • Mental breakdowns
  • Hair loss
  • Fibromyalgia.

I’ve seen them all form on the building blocks of stress, triggered later in life when it all became too much for the body to physically handle. 

Surely, with all this attention on mental health, we can now see how emotional stress that isn’t handled can also lead to physically harmful repercussions for the body? I see it every day as a massage therapist.

Self care isn’t about saying me first, it’s about saying me too.

In case you had forgotten, this is your reminder that your body, your mind, your spirit, your emotional and mental wellbeing are ALL important.

So the next time you really think you don’t have time to take care of yourself – remind yourself that you are worth MORE than 5% of your own time. 

It might make you prioritise your to-do list slightly differently.
